We had the opportunity to chat with talented content producer SWITZON S. WIGFALL. His funky visual language mixes 3D animations with fast motion graphics. This combination creates a fresh energy in his body of work. The visual series as a whole is full dynamic, geometric and explosive. Did we mention his visuals are available as Free products at AVloops? Click here to view his VJ loops collection. Check out the Q&A interview below, as we are totally switched-on for Switzon!
Where in the world (city) do you live?
I live and work in Los Angeles, California (Technically residing in Long Beach)
How long have you been creating original visual content?
I have been creating original visual content for about 11 years now (since 2007), but going public with it online for the world wide web since 2012 where I started my everyday art project as well as making vj-clips.
Why do you give away your visuals as Free VJ loops online?
I give away my vj-loops/clips online for free under a creative commons license because I actually like the "idea of giving" away cool free shit and helping in some kind of small way for the visual-music/vj/motion-graphic community since I learned so much from other great people from tutorials. I have great joy, love and passion in what I do and I gained confidence and happiness over the years of my career to share my work with the world and this is another way.
What inspires you creatively?
What inspires me creatively are every day things, people, nature and so many forces around me. I gain inspiration from everything from something very small to something very big that's always in our faces our apart of our lives in the human experience. Music is definitely another important factor that inspires and is one of the major influences of my work.
What tools (software) do you use to produce your content?
The tools I use to create and produce my content is mainly and always starts off with Cinema 4d along with other programs such as Illustrator, Photoshop and After-Effects for the color-corrections, textures, compositing and animation in my everyday's and vj-loops/clips.
What type of dance music/musician do you listen to most?
I listen to alot of Flying Lotus, and alot of folks from Brainfeeder, Team Supreme, and Low End Theory these days. I'm open to all kinds of music but for the most part I'm into alot of abstract hip-hop beats or "beatstrumentals" (from the beat scene especially) that blossoms and cross over to so many other musical genres.
On average, how long does it take you to create one visual loop on your computer (minus rendering time)?
On average (minus the render time) it takes me anywhere from 3 hours to 3 days or even more to create a vj-loop/clip on my computer.
If you have all the time in the world, what would you do?
If I had all the time in the world I would probably sleep more and have more naps in between me working on projects all day long (hahahaha....for real for real probably just "do nothing" and crash on my favorite studio couch with my phone off...but that's unrealistic these days).
Anything you would like to say to our AVloops customers?
What I would like to say to our AV loop customers is never give up on what you love to do when it's challenging and don't give a fuck about what people or the world thinks about your work....just stay focused, practice practice practice, learn from people, learn from tutorials, take your time seriously to work hard yet enjoy taking time off to do other cool fun things and put play into experimentation with your work...and don't be afraid to color outside the lines and push boundaries for your own projects and with other great people for the collaborative projects....
